  Gold Systems Green Initiative

July 1st 2008, Salt Lake City, Utah

Gold Systems believes that our employees, our clients, our neighbors, and our families want to support businesses that are environmentally sound. We also believe that we have a responsibility to ensure that our forests, lakes and rivers will be around for our children and for generations to come. We have established an internal committee to address ways that we can “start locally” to reduce consumption and the cost of consumables. We have:

  • Created an internal committee, the “Green Team,” that meets monthly to brainstorm, discuss successes and failures and continue to build upon our current green culture.
  • Purchased Blue Sky power credits to match employee home purchases of power credits.
  • Established a Green fund to collect employees' contributions for green initiatives.
  • Hold regular meetings to present Green topics, such as navigating the public transportation system and reducing consumerism.
  • Introduced an in-house initiative on reducing computer power usage .
  • Replaced our old power-hungry equipment with new energy efficent upgrades.
  • Encouraged employees to car pool or use alternative methods to commute to and from work
  • Purchased new recycling bins for all common areas of our corporate office.
  • Installed a soda fountain machine to dramatically cut down on can and bottle waste.
  • Switched to biodegradable plasticware that breaks down more easily in landfills.
  • Sponsored a company activity to clean up the creek outside our office.
  • Organized a regular “litterless lunch” contest, a brown bag lunch that awards the employee with the least disposable waste with a gift certificate.
  • Encouraged employees who travel via the air to purchase a carbon offset.
